Genetic Testing for Hereditary Familial Cholestatic Liver Diseases and Some Hyperbilirubinemic Disorders

The Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology of the University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland, offers genetic investigation for the diagnosis of three transport proteins, important in the etiology of hereditary cholestatic liver diseases. Additionally, three other transport proteins which are contributing to the hereditary hyperbilirubinemic disorders Dubin-Johnson syndrome and Rotor syndrome, are also investigated. Our division has been granted full authorization for genetic testing by the Swiss Federal Office for Health. Should there be a suspected patient diagnosis for one of the following diseases, we provide full-exon DNA sequencing or real-time PCR analysis for relevant polymorphisms to support the diagnosis:
